Facilitator/advisor - novel group support for diverse issues - remote, part-time, licensed practitioner
About us
I’m Subarna, Tonik's founder.
While it’s never been easier to find support, the “right support” remains hard to find (and deliver) despite dedicated practitioners and a wealth of research. I know because I’ve weathered my own setbacks, watched people I love do the same, and built the gamut of behavioral health and healthcare solutions working closely with practitioners.
I’m bootstrapping Tonik to change this – not with ‘tech-enablement’ or AI slapped on the status quo – but designed from the ground-up with rigor.
Tonik’s mission is to improve lives profoundly, by meeting people where they are with the right support for their complete experience – in the here and now of life – strengthened by community for growth and connection.
We want to realize the full potential of groups, evidence-based methods and the latest research across disciplines – for transformative support when people hit a rough patch with work, relationships, health, or life more broadly.
Our early focus includes (but isn’t limited to) issues that affect women disproportionately and differently.
P.S - the em dashes are all me, not AI :)
Who we're looking for
Practitioners experienced in group therapy – to facilitate or advise virtual group based programs for specialized support for issues across work, relationships, health, or life more broadly.
These programs meet people where they are with unprecedented support that addresses their complete experience and the complexity of their issues with the rigor and nuance. So that they can reliably make meaningful progress, instead of wondering where to go, or settling for fragmented unpredictable support.
You’ll work closely with the founder to facilitate or support these programs, and make them as good as they can possibly be – comprehensive, evidence-based, measurably impactful and delightful – for participants and practitioners.
We’re in the early stages –– this role could expand in many ways based on interest and fit. It’s a unique opportunity to play the long game, build something from inception that shifts the paradigm, and create a global community for exceptional support that practitioners are proud to be part of.
If this sounds like you, we’d love to talk:
- You're a Master's or Doctoral-level therapist, or other clinical practitioner, ideally licensed to practice in California but if not, don't let that stop you from applying.
- You’re experienced in group therapy or group-based support. You appreciate the beauty, power and nuances of groups and care deeply about expanding their reach. You know how to put people at ease and engage them meaningfully in virtual group sessions.
- You practice evidence-based modalities with an integrative approach, stay current with research, and are energized by new ways to help people. Ideally, you bring expertise in trauma-specific, gender-responsive, neuro-affirming and culturally responsive care.
- Ideally you have deep expertise in one or more issues related to work, relationships, health, or life at large. You understand the complexity of the issue, how it can be multifaceted, situational and the diverse risk factors. And you appreciate the need for support that’s nuanced and grounded in evidence, realities and lived experience. Our early focus includes (but isn’t limited to) issues that affect women and underserved groups disproportionately and differentially.
- To engage hands-on and facilitate groups. You’re organized and reliable. You have high standards, and can give and receive constructive feedback. You can work from first principles, deal with the unglamorous but necessary details, and be flexible and pragmatic while staying responsible. You’re proficient in virtual support for groups and Zoom, Google Workspace and commonly used digital tools.
- You know that practitioners face systemic challenges, and that tech has yet to “revolutionize” behavioral health. But you’re still excited about improving support for the greater good and for practitioners – by focusing on the right problems, tapping research and design thoughtfully, and playing the long game.
If this resonates, we’d love to hear from you and share more.
If you’re drawn to this but your profile’s not a perfect fit, we encourage you to apply.
You can also apply if you’d prefer to engage as an advisor.
